26LC 02 009 BESC - Leadership in Action: Fostering Shared Responsibility across the School

Workshops take place 3rd & 10th February at 5pm

This interactive webinar focuses on building a culture where leadership is shared and responsibility is distributed across the whole school community. Anchored in the Looking at Our School 2022 domains of Leading school development and Developing leadership capacity, participants will explore the benefits of a distributive leadership approach for staff, students and the wider school community.
The session will invite participants to reflect on their current context, consider practical ways to involve more people in leadership work, and examine how structures such as middle leadership roles, working groups and collaborative teams can be used to support sustainable improvement.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the concept and benefits of distributive leadership with reference to Looking at Our School 2022.
  • Identify opportunities in their own school to develop leadership capacity among staff and students.
  • Align middle leadership roles and team structures with school improvement priorities.
  • Use practical strategies to encourage shared ownership of initiatives and projects across the school.
  • Reflect on how fostering shared responsibility contributes to a positive and collaborative school culture.
